What Darts Does Chris Dobey Use? Full Setup Explained

Chris Dobey Exact Setup

Check out our full setup video below, where we review Chris Dobey's complete setup as part of our new series! 🎯

Chris Dobey, better known as Hollywood, uses a complete Target setup built around his signature Generation 1 darts. From his No.2 player flights and clear Pro Grip shafts through to his 23 Gram barrels and and 35mm Swiss Points, each part comes together to create the setup dobey uses at the oche. In this blog we will look through his entire setup that he uses on stage and how you can recreate it yourself!

Who Is Chris Dobey?

Chris Dobey nicknamed Hollywood, is an english professional darts player and part of the Target player lineup, with his own range of signature darts and accessories. the Nickname Hollywood that has become such a massive part of his branding originates from way back when he was playing in pub leagues in his home town of Newcastle. He would turn up to matches wearing sliders, shorts and a backwards hat. once a teammate had said he looked like he stepped out of hollywood due to his casual clothing the nickname just stuck and it has been his darts nickname ever since. He has been with Target darts since 2023 and has had a couple different releases in that time including his g1 barrel and the Hollywood Action barrel and of course he is part of the massivley popular 95K dart range.

What Flights Does Chris Dobey Use?

At the back of his setup, Chris Dobey uses his Target Chris Dobey Generation 1 No.2 flights, carrying the distinctive Hollywood branding associated with his signature range. The flights feature the black, grey and blue colour scheme seen across his collection, helping to complete the overall look of the setup.

These flights are included with his Generation 1 darts, but they are also available separately in packs of three, making it easy for players to replace worn flights or recreate Dobey’s setup without buying a full set of darts.

What Shafts Does Chris Dobey Use?

Dobey pairs his signature flights with clear Medium Target Pro Grip shafts, creating a simple rear setup that keeps the focus on his player barrel and flight design. The same shaft design is included with his Generation 1 darts, although the boxed setup comes with the Short version.

When playing on stage, Dobey opts for the Medium length instead, which changes the overall balance and feel of the dart compared with the standard setup supplied in the box.

What Dart Barrels Does Chris Dobey Use?

At the centre of Chris Dobey’s setup are his Target Chris Dobey Generation 1 Swiss Point darts. The specific weight Dobey uses on stage is 23g, giving him the barrel setup he prefers for competitive play.

These darts are Swiss Point compatible, allowing players to easily change the points and recreate Dobey’s stage setup, as he uses a different point configuration to the one supplied in the box. The barrel itself features a mainly silver finish with black and white detailing towards the rear, reflecting Dobey’s personal branding and paying tribute to his Newcastle roots and the football club he supports.

The barrel has a straight profile with a consistent ringed grip running across much of the surface, alongside a grenade style grip section positioned through the middle of the barrel. This gives players plenty of clear reference points along the barrel and makes the design suitable for a variety of grip positions and throwing styles.

What Points Does Chris Dobey Use?

Completing Chris Dobey’s setup are Black 35mm SP DX Swiss Points, adding a longer black point to the front of his 23g Generation 1 barrels. The DX points feature a diamond cut section towards the front, designed to give the point extra grip in the sisal and help the dart stay securely in the board. They also include a grip section closer to the barrel, which can be useful for players who rest a finger on the point during their throw.

The Generation 1 darts are supplied with the same DX style point, but there are two key differences between the boxed setup and Dobey’s stage setup. The darts come fitted with a 26mm silver point, while Dobey uses the 35mm black version on stage. The longer point changes the look and feel of the setup and can also create a little more separation between the barrels when grouping tightly in the board.

This is where the Swiss Point system becomes particularly useful. Players looking to recreate Dobey’s stage setup can simply purchase the 35mm Black SP DX points separately, unscrew the original points, and fit the new ones within minutes, without needing a traditional repointing tool or sending the darts away to be repointed.
