About Chris Dobey

Chris Dobey is one of the most recognisable players on the professional circuit and is well known for his love of Newcastle United. His support for the club is so great that St James’ Park has even been incorporated into the design of his official darts shirts.

His nickname, "Hollywood", was born during his pub darts days when he would regularly turn up wearing sliders, shorts and a backwards cap. A teammate joked that he looked like he had just stepped out of Hollywood, and the nickname has stayed with him ever since. Today he certainly lives up to the name with his huge scoring power and spectacular finishing ability.

Before turning professional, Dobey worked as a traffic management officer, often balancing his darts career around demanding 12 hour night shifts. Away from the oche he is well known for his superstitions, including using the same toilet throughout tournaments while on a winning run, only changing if his luck begins to fade. His personality, humour and exciting style of play have helped make him one of the most popular players on the PDC circuit.

Chris Dobey currently uses his Generation 1 Target Darts barrels, manufactured from 90% tungsten. The higher tungsten content creates a slimmer barrel profile, giving players more room in the treble bed for tighter grouping.

Chris throws a centre balanced straight barrel featuring ring grip across its full length, perfectly matching his naturally spread grip and smooth throwing action. His setup is completed with 35mm Swiss Points, standard Target Pro Grip shafts and Target dart flights.

Unlike many modern professionals, Chris has chosen to retain a traditional flight and shaft combination rather than moving to the K Flex integrated system, demonstrating confidence in the setup that has helped establish him as one of the biggest scorers and finishers in the professional game.
