Phil Taylor

Phil “The Power” Taylor is considered by many to be the greatest darts player in history. The retired English star amassed a record 16 World Championship titles plus a host of other major honours, building a record that many believe may never be matched. Taylor’s impact on the professional game of darts cannot be underestimated, with his dedication, professionalism and success helping to shape the modern game and inspire future generations of players, including stars such as Luke Littler. This range of Phil Taylor darts and accessories is designed in conjunction with Target Darts and is based on the legendary short torpedo barrels that Taylor has used in many of his World Championship wins.

About Phil Taylor

Phil Taylor is an English darts player widely regarded as the greatest player in the history of the sport. Before turning professional, Taylor worked as a sheet metal worker and began playing regularly in his local pub league alongside his father at the age of 25.

His talent quickly became apparent and he progressed through the ranks to Super League before attracting the attention of five time World Champion Eric Bristow. During the early years of his career, Bristow became his mentor and Taylor has often credited him with helping to develop the winning mentality that would define his success.

Taylor went on to win a record 16 World Championship titles and countless other major honours, making him the most decorated player the sport has ever seen. Such was his confidence in his own ability that he once had a friend place a bet on him completing a nine dart finish, only to go on and do exactly that, earning his friend a £900 payout from a £35 stake.

He retired from the PDC in 2018 and continued to compete on the senior circuit until bringing his competitive career to a close in 2025.

What Darts Does Phil Taylor Use?

Phil Taylor used a wide variety of darts throughout his career, gradually moving away from traditional straight barrel designs and towards the short torpedo shape that would become synonymous with his success. Combined with his famously short flights, it created one of the most distinctive setups ever seen in professional darts.

The most iconic darts associated with Taylor's dominance are his Phase 5 Rosso darts. Their unique balance point and front weighted design made them challenging for many players to throw, but they helped Taylor achieve remarkable consistency throughout one of the most successful careers in sporting history.

This barrel shape helps the darts sit flatter in the board, allowing players to stack subsequent darts above them and improve grouping in the treble bed. Although Phil is now retired from professional competition, Target Darts continues to produce products inspired by his famous setup, giving players the opportunity to use equipment based on one of the most successful dart configurations ever created.

Whether you want to recreate Taylor's legendary setup or simply experience equipment associated with a 16 time World Champion, this collection includes everything from entry level models through to premium tungsten darts based on his most iconic barrel designs.

Why Choose Phil Taylor Darts?

Phil Taylor's darts are famous in part for the way they enter and sit in the dartboard. His signature torpedo barrels are designed to sit flatter in the board, allowing easier stacking of darts and tighter grouping in the treble bed.

The unique balance point of these barrels helps prevent the dart from diving downwards after impact. Combined with Taylor’s famously small flights, this creates one of the most recognisable setups in the history of the sport.

Players looking for a slightly steeper angle of entry can alter the setup by using larger flights, while still benefiting from the characteristics of the barrel. Phil’s current range includes his famous torpedo designs as well as more traditional straight barrel models, available in 90% tungsten, 80% tungsten and brass versions.

With a variety of barrel shapes, weights and materials available, Phil Taylor darts continue to be a popular choice for players of all abilities looking to experience equipment inspired by the greatest player the sport has ever known.
